Popular Science has posted an article about the making of the surf movie “View from a Blue Moon.” It was filmed in 4K using RED Dragon cameras both topside and underwater. Other equipment included a Phantom Flex 4K, Shotover F1 aerial gimbal mount and a Movi steadicam gimbal.

The article in Popular Science notes that the film deliberately sought remote locations where they were able to use fairly radical techniques, in particular very low/close flying in helicopters.

After its first week, the film is the top grossing action sports film in history. (Image by Sacha Specker).
