Underwater panoramic camera used to document reefs

UW Pano

Catlin Seaview Survey employs an underwater panoramic camera to document the health of coral reefs throughout the world. Started in 2012 with the Great Barrier Reef, the survey took over 100,000 360-degree panoramic images of the reef.

Since then, the team has traveled to Belize, Mexico, and Aruba, and has worked with other research organizations like NOAA, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, World Resources Institute and the Global Change Institute.

The camera was specially built and you can read more about it here.
