Nikon releases NX-D image processing software

Nikon NX-D on Wetpixel

Nikon has released their NX-D image processing software. Previously available in a beta format, the new version is a stable release and is available as a free download. It is designed specifically to match Nikon’s RAW formats, although it will edit jpg and tiff files too. Nikon have adopted the use of XMP sidecar files for storing processing information alongside RAW files, and the GUI is designed with floating pallets to maximise screen real estate.

Plans for future iterations include updated “software functions for better image processing and operation in response to many requests, including the addition of an automatic retouch brush.”
