At the NAB Show in Las Vegas, Kron Technologies has announced their 2.1 Chronos 2.1 high-speed camera. It is capable of capturing 1080HD resolution footage at a frame rate of 1,000 fps and up to 100,000 fps at lower resolutions. It has a 4/3 sensor capturing 2.1 gigapixels per second and between 2.5 to 11 seconds of recording time, depending on the RAM size.
Lens compatibility includes Nikon F, Canon EF, Micro 4/3 and C mounts, and the camera can record in either compressed h.264 or uncompressed cinemaDNG raw. Battery life is 1 hour, and it records to “removable media.”
Pre-orders for the Chronos 2,1 will ship in summer 2019, with standard orders shipping on fall. Price is expected to be in the range 0f $5,000 to $6,000.
